The Commissioner representing the Ughelli South, Udu and Warri Urhobo on the board of Delta State Oil Produce Area Development Commission (DESOPADEC) on Friday Valentine Day, 2020, played host to delegates from Center for Peace and Environmental Justice- CEPEJ led by Mr. Daniel Tonfawei – Communication /Networking Officer, Mr. Doubra Patrick Boidifigha – Environment office and Mr. Olasupo Olatoke – ICT Administrator.
The discussion centred on CEPEJ Youth economic empowerment programme aimed toward curbing youth restiveness within Warri, Udu, Ughelli and Delta State generally through Peace Building and Economic Empowerment Programme for the 25 government Areas of Delta State.
Chief Oyibode was very impressed with CEPEJ plans toward liberating the youths across the State through Peace Building and Economic Empowerment Programme,
In his words; “This may be a welcome development, for CEPEJ to plan a programme to engage youths across the State and build the capacity of the youths to get their full potentials is something we all need to embrace, the programme will especially help those that are involved in conflict and violent activities within the communities.
I can see that it’ll help reduce violence and conflicts, sustain the existing peace in the state”.
He also commended CEPEJ for selecting youths as the target audience, saying that; “Most youths today do not want to do anything but want to get much money, the agro-business entrepreneurship programme is what the youths of Delta State need.
I can collaborate and support this laudable program for the development of youths in Delta State particularly my constituency.
The high point of the visit was the presentation of 2020 CEPEJ News Letters, Calendars and Letter of Collaboration/ Partnership by Mr. Daniel Tonfawei who led the delegation.
